Historie

The Bay City Rollers var et skotsk pop / rock bandet på 70-tallet med en sterk tilhengerskare blant tenåringsjenter.

Opprinnelsen til gruppen går tilbake til dannelsen av duoen Longmuir Brothers på slutten av 60-tallet, bestående av trommeslager Derek Longmuir (f. 19 mars 1952, Edinburgh, Skottland) og hans bass-spillende bror Alan (f. juni 20, 1953, Edinburgh).

De skiftet navn til Saxons, og legger til sanger Nobby Clarke og John Devine.

Da de endret navnet sitt igjen ved å peke på tilfeldig til et sted på et kart over USA:  Bay City, Michigan.

Deres første hit var en cover av  Gentrys "Keep on Dancing", som nådde nummer 9 i Storbritannia i september 1971.

 I juni 1972, kom gitarist Eric Faulkner (f. 21 oktober 1954, Edinburgh).

 I januar 1973, kom sangeren Leslie McKeown (f. 12 november 1955, Edinburgh) og gitaristen Stuart Wood (f. 25 februar 1957, Edinburgh) som erstattet  Clarke og Devine , stabilisere kvintetten sin lineup.

Etter flopping med tre singler, fikk de endelig treffer på Top Ten igjen i februar 1974 med "Remember".

På denne tiden ble Rollene et tenåring sensasjon i Storbritannia, med sitt gode utseende og Tartan nikkers, og de ​​scoret en rekke topp ti britiske hits i løpet av de neste to og et halvt år: "Shang-a-Lang," " Summerlove Sensation "," All of Me Loves All of You, "" Bye Bye Baby "(en cover av Four Seasons hit som gikk til nummer én), "Give a Little Love" (nummer 1), "Money Honey" "Love Me Like I Love You,» og ''I Only Want to Be with You''(en cover av Dusty Springfield hit).

 Deres album Rollin’, Once Upon a Star, Wouldn’t You Like It og Dedication ble også Top Ten suksesser.

Rollin ' og Once Upon a Star ble nummer 1.

De scoret sine første amerikanske hit med "Saturday Night", som ble utgitt i september 1975 og traff nummer én i januar 1976.

Den ble etterfulgt av Top Ten hits "Money Honey" og "You Made Me Believe in Magic...» Rollene hadde også fem rette gull album i USA: Bay City Rollers , Rock 'n' Roll Love Letter , Dedication , It’s a Game, og Greatest Hits . Alan Longmuir forlot bandet i juni 1976 og ble erstattet av Ian Mitchell (f. 22 august 1958, Downpatrick, County Down, Nord-Irland), som i sin tur ble erstattet av Pat McGlynn (f. 31 mars , 1958, Edinburgh) i juni 1977.

Longmuir  kom tilbake i 1978, samme år som McKeown ble erstattet av Duncan Faure og Faulkner   
sluttet for å gå solo.

Men da hadde Bay City Rollers allerede hatt sin siste hit.
